Dr. Giselle Ostolaza, Au.D., CCA-A is a TeleHear Provider for Starkey HearCare. Dr. Ostolaza is a proud US Air Force veteran after serving four years of active duty as a Captain. She was honorably discharged and crossed over to the civil service sector within the same unit for the DoD. She holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is licensed in the state of Texas with the goal of acquiring licenses in the remaining states.
Dr. Ostolaza has a BS in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico and completed her doctorate in Audiology at the University of Puerto Rico Medical Science Center graduating Magna Cum Laude. Yes, she speaks Spanish!!!
During clinical formation, Dr. Ostolaza spent two years at the Pediatric Medical Center High Risk Clinic where she performed Auditory Brain Stem Response (ABR) under sedation and Otoacoustic Emissions (OAEs), as well as, ototoxic monitoring for patients receiving chemotherapy. Additionally, she was assigned to an ENT clinic where she performed balance assessments and hearing evaluations, and a third practice focused in hearing aid fittings. For her fourth year, she was one of the two audiology students selected across the nation to complete the fellowship program offered by the US Air Force at Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center in Lackland AFB where she remained for the rest of her military and civil service career.
Dr. Ostolaza spent much time performing balance and electrophysiological assessments becoming the go to clinician for this type of testing. She is also proud to have served other veterans and active-duty members with their hearing needs by fitting, programming and dispensing hearing aids, cochlear implants and bone anchor devices to them and their dependents.
Dr. Ostolaza is excited to be a TeleHear provider as it’s different from what she has done so far and feels this approach is a unique way to provide audiology services to patients.
Dr. Ostolaza loves to be with her family and two cats and enjoys spending time with friends, playing board games and barbequing.
